The film shows the story of the racist attack in the German city of Hanau – which was breaking news all around the world – from the perspective of the survivors and the bereaved. Within minutes, nine young people were murdered just because they looked „non-German“. The film explores both the immediate and long-term consequences of such an attack – for the survivors, the families, and the city itself.
Over nearly five years, the film follows the protagonists as they navigate their grief, fight for recognition, and struggle to reclaim a sense of belonging in the country they call home.
